Situated right on the fairway, this was a classic builder-grade spec home, until we got involved. The owners wanted a place that felt like a retreat now and a real home for the next chapter. So we worked with what the builder gave us, then layered in color, texture, and all the right details: crown molding, wallpaper, custom built-ins, and moody lighting. The result is a contemporary escape—warm, sophisticated, and ready for a crowd or a quiet weekend. Proof that even the most ordinary foundations can become something you actually want to come home to.
Set along the fairways of Wellen Park, this project began like so many others: a classic builder-grade spec home with all the right proportions and none of the soul. The owners, a couple from Newfoundland, had bought early, well before Sarasota’s market took off, and wanted a retreat that could evolve into their forever home.
When they reached out, they weren’t looking for another coastal cliché. They wanted something with purpose, warmth, and longevity. So we took the foundation they had and layered in everything it was missing: color, texture, and quiet sophistication.
We started by finding the thread that tied it all together: deep black accents, moody blues, natural light, and soft texture. The kind of palette that feels calm by day and compelling at night. Every piece of furniture was selected for how it lives, not just how it photographs. We partnered with Robb & Stucky to source pieces that looked as good as they held up—without the inflated markups that usually sneak in behind the scenes.
Because the clients were hundreds of miles away, we became their eyes, hands, and sounding board. Every sample, every finish, every decision came with context and clarity. No surprises. When they finally arrived, the reaction said everything: “You nailed it.” That moment when it all clicks is what makes the process worth it.
The finished home feels grounded yet elevated. Custom built-ins add architecture to the open plan. Wallpaper and crown molding layer in texture and rhythm. Lighting brings mood and dimension. It’s not a showpiece, it’s a place meant to be lived in, beautifully.
We’ve always believed you don’t need a million-dollar build to create something remarkable. You just need a clear vision and the right hands guiding it.
Now, when the homeowners talk about their future here, they don’t describe a house—they describe a feeling. “I don’t want to wish my life away,” he told us, “but I can’t wait to retire there.”
For us, that’s the measure of good design. Not just how it looks, but how inevitable it feels once it’s done.
A closer look at how vision, restraint, and a little irreverence turned a builder-grade spec home into a lived-in retreat. Proof that design doesn’t start with luxury, it ends there.
Our work begins with listening—and ends with spaces that feel unmistakably yours. Because when design works beautifully, you don’t have to say a word.
