Set along the golf course in Wellen Park, this home was designed as a relaxed family retreat, a place that feels welcoming from the start and easy to live in over time. Working from a strong builder-provided foundation, our role was to enhance what was already there, layering in warmth, texture, and thoughtful details to help the home feel complete. The result is a space that feels comfortable, functional, and fully lived in, without ever feeling overdone.
Situated next door to close friends, this project took on a very different tone from its neighbor. While the layout offered a similar level of flexibility, the direction here leaned more toward a family-focused approach, softer, more transitional, and designed to feel approachable in every room.
From the beginning, the goal was to create a home where nothing felt off-limits. Spaces that invite you to sit, gather, and actually use them without hesitation. That meant prioritizing comfort, durability, and flow, while still maintaining a sense of cohesion throughout the home.
We started by working within the builder’s existing finishes, choosing not to replace cabinetry, flooring, or core elements. Instead, we focused on adding layers that would define each space more clearly. Color, texture, and architectural details like crown molding and built-ins brought warmth and structure, helping the open-concept layout feel more grounded and intentional.
In the main living areas, scale and placement did much of the work. The layout called for furniture that could support both everyday family life and hosting, so we selected pieces that feel substantial without being heavy. The result is a space that holds together visually while still feeling open and easy.
Throughout the home, small decisions added up to make a meaningful difference. Lighting was re-centered where needed to better align with how the rooms function. Shower enclosures were added to bring a more finished feel to the bathrooms. Even simple adjustments helped the home feel more considered and more in tune with how it would actually be used.
The primary suite leans into a softer, more classic direction. A full shiplap treatment in the bathroom, paired with polished nickel finishes and a clean palette, gives the space a quiet, Cape Cod-inspired feel. It’s a subtle shift, but one that adds character without overwhelming the rest of the home.
Elsewhere, flexibility continues to define the layout. A dedicated office doubles as a guest space, with built-in storage that supports work without taking over the room. The media space is designed for multiple uses at once, allowing different activities to happen comfortably within the same footprint.
One of the more personal moments in the home is a small transition space off the garage, which naturally evolved into a functional drop zone with a nod to the family’s pets. It’s a simple detail, but one that reflects the everyday lifestyle this home was designed around.
The finished home feels cohesive, welcoming, and easy to grow into. It builds on a strong foundation and shows how thoughtful design can bring clarity and comfort to every space.
We’ve always believed the best results come from getting involved early, before decisions are locked in and pieces are layered without a plan.
Because when a home is designed with intention from the beginning, it doesn’t need to be reworked later. It simply works from the start.
